Angie Attwood Textiles
Welcome to my little world of creative textiles and quilting
Having trained and worked as a Graphic Designer before working with textiles, I'm still visually drawn to strong graphic shapes and repetitive patterns. My inspiration frequently comes from architecture or flora & fauna, wherever I may be in the world. Currently, I have the best of both worlds, with colourful urban and vast green spaces on my doorstep in South Birmingham.
I enjoy working with cotton and silk, but not exclusively, and feel strongly about recycling. I endeavour to use offcuts and scraps whenever possible, especially in my creative textiles and English Paper Piecing work. Colour is important to me. If I'm unable to find the perfect offcut in my stash I will hand dye specifically for a project.
My making processes vary widely, depending on the project type but can include patchwork, free-motion embroidery and/or quilting, ruler work, various types of appliqué, printing, dyeing and sometimes a little hand embroidery too.
When I'm not designing you'll find me teaching or demonstrating. I have been demonstrating quilting and free-motion embroidery techniques on Sewing Quarter since its launch in January 2017. You will also find me demonstrating Westalee Quilting Rulers at quilt shows throughout the year with Cottonpatch. I regularly teach workshops in Westalee ruler quilting both locally in the Midlands and around the UK.
