Zoom Chelsea Quilt Course 2026
7pm GMT/ 1pm CST/ 2pm EST/ 6am AEDT
Chelsea has been designed as a follow-on program from the Jewel Quilt course, for those wishing to develop their ruler work skills further by applying them to a ‘pieced’ quilt top. Chelsea can be quilted as a whole or in just 3 or 5 QAYGO sections, therefore some previous ruler work experience is vital for working with larger sandwiched sections.
The piecing is relatively simple; we’ll be working with squares, strips and HST’s, but your colour choices and placement can be used to striking effect. Your finished quilt can be any colour palette you choose, a light or dark background with 3 contrasting or complementary colours or patterned fabrics. You could also try a scrappy version!
The finished size is 72” x 72” with options for a single or larger king. The 36” x 36” centre design can also be made as a standalone table centre, play mat or wall hanging. The patchwork and quilting have equal presence in this design, the quilting is soft and gentle but still very visible.
You will be guided through the various sections of the patchwork pattern and quilting design in detail, and be expected to stitch the required repeats of these as homework between each class.
The course will cover
- Patchwork: the piecing and approaches
- Patchwork & Quilting: thread options, the quilting design, technical approaches, how and why
- Ruler Quilting: detailed use of templates and design options
- Quilting: dealing with patchwork seams
- Quilting: dealing with weight and drag
- Choosing options that fit your personal means, equipment set-up and capabilities.
Live classes will be conducted over Zoom, typically 1-2hr sessions. Each live session will be recorded and available for unlimited access within the purchased Online Program @ angieattwood.co.uk. Angie will be on hand to guide you throughout the process and you’ll be part of a Makers Group to share your progress with other participants.
Class groups will be small, around 8-10 persons max.
Templates, fabric and thread not included in the course fee.
