Dahlia - the newest addition to the Squared-Up Series (Nov '20)

A4 4pp, fully illustrated step-by-step instruction booklet.

Westalee Templates required: Spin e fex 10 (set of 5)

A similar effect can also be achieved with any curved templates which make petal shapes.

Designs from the Squared Up Series can be used in a variety of ways. They're perfect for smaller makes such as bags and cushions, or stitch multiples together to make wall hangings, quilts, table or bed runners - the choice is yours!

Dahlia looks impressive but is not complex to stitch and the Spin e fex 10 templates are very easy to use. The design is illustrated at 12 inches square but can be modified very easily to fit larger squares just by moving the corners out, creating a little more space around the centre piece. My TempLee Quilted sample is rectangular so I simply repeated the design to the edges. The design can also be simplified should you prefer less dense quilting, simply stitch fewer rotations.

When new to ruler work, large projects can often feel intimidating. Small projects are perfect practice pieces, help build your confidence and improve your technique.

I hope this pattern will also inspire you to play with design - don’t be afraid to go off-piste and add your own modifications when the inspiration strikes!

These instructions cover how to stitch the design within a 12” square.
You will need: A fabric sandwich approx 15”x15”
