Minimal ruler work basics are required to join this course. All patterns and templates will be taught and demonstrated in detail with access to recorded tutorials between live classes. You will not be required to stitch during the live sessions, these will be for observing design demonstrations, asking questions and quilt progress sharing.

The first session will be dedicated to ensuring everyone gets online ok and to discuss preparing for the course, equipment, fabric, thread, wadding and the course outline.

Course outline:

  • Full course over 12 sessions (approx 8 months)
  • Live Sessions 1-2hrs max
  • Access to video recordings of each session to playback in your own time (for the duration of the course and at least 12 months afterwards)

Basic experience of ruler work is a sign-up requirement. Angie will not be teaching machine set-up therefore you are required to be comfortable fitting the ruler foot and stitching basic straight and curved lines.

There is plenty of time to decide (and shop for) fabrics, even after the first session. For the first couple of sessions you will find it easier and less stressful to stitch out the designs on ‘practice’ fabric sandwiches, rather than your chosen finished fabric.

This will not be the case for every session, don’t worry, you won’t end up making two, unless you want to of course! As your confidence and skill level improves you will not feel as much need. We usually find things easier the second time round which is what makes Jewel a fabulous development tool as you stitch each block four times, improving your technique and muscle memory each time.

Jewel Quilt Pattern Book is not included in the course fee. It is available to purchase from my online shop but I do not insist you have it. I will supply PDF instructions at every stage. The book was updated last year and reprinted. PDF’s supplied are of the latest version for those with older pattern books. The written instructions are the same but a few more diagrams have been added.

The quilt requires approx 6m of fabric per side. Introductory notes and detailed fabric requirements are supplied in PDF form and also discussed in Session 1.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any further questions.

Thank you for looking!
